We work in all conditions! Summer heat is no exception.
Our Wedding this past weekend was outside in 100+ degree weather and it was a scorcher!
Here is how to stay cool:
1. Start at Home I ditched the traditional dress shirt and opted for a short- sleeved lighter color polo type shirt, in addition a white t- shirt to help wick away the sweat (stay away from a black shirt)
2. A little baby powder will save you from looking like a wet towel!
3. Water Water everywhere! Water is awesome stay away from the sports drinks! We have a small fold-able seat in our gear that doubles as as cooler. Pack your seat cooler with at least a gallon of water and three ice packs and you will stay hydrated! Pack some extra for you assistant. Power Bar optional! Staying hydrated is important because at the wedding you will be working harder than anybody else and It would look bad if they had to rush you to the hospital.
4. Instant Shade This is my invention that I made from stuff that a professional photographer should already have on hand. A. Large Golf Umbrella B. Tripod C.Two orange pony clamps. We take 4 or 5 golf umbrellas in the Jeep to every wedding and you should too! You never know when it's going to rain and getting caught without umbrellas is a show stopper! One more note on umbrellas: get the kind with white Panels so that they will allow light to pass through It makes a beautiful diffused light!
Ok open umbrella , extend center post to full height, turn the head of your tripod straight up and clamp the umbrella and that's it. also you can anchor your Brella pod with your camera bag. This and lots of water will help you beat the summer heat.
