CHILDREN AND FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY
Q: How long will it take and how much time should we allot for the child’s or baby shoot?
A:Generally it takes about two hours, with clothing changes. We allow 1 clothing change as a rule
Q:Should I bring someone with me?
A:For a baby or child’s shoot, we generally think it is a good idea to bring someone to help you out if you have another child with you. Parents are usually encouraged to help out with the shoot to get the infant or child to respond for the best images.
Q:What time of day is the best time for a shoot for my baby?
A:We usually recommend morning shoots for children and babies, Tuesday – Thursday; however, we will do special appointments to accommodate your schedule.
Q:How many people can you shoot in a family portrait?
A:We have a very large loft studio and we can accommodate a significant number of people in a portrait, as well as on location.
Q:Will you come to our house for a photo shoot for our baby or for a family portrait?
A:Yes, we do photo shoots on location all of the time. It is especially nice for the baby to be in his or her nursery for the first photo session………however, we also have really great lighting, props, and backdrops for a baby shoot at the loft studio.
ENGAGEMENT SHOOTS
Q:What is the importance of an engagement shoot?
A:It is very important. It gives the photographer and the bride and groom a chance to get acquainted and helps establish a repore between them before the wedding. It is also nice to have casual images of yourselves, together.
Q:What should we wear for the engagement shoot?
A:Solid colors…..(no patterns) is always a good choice. You should wear clothing that you love and colors that compliment each other.
Q:What time of day should we do our engagement shoot?
A:We normally like to do our engagement shoots on location. The late afternoons usually work better with the lighting, etc.
BRIDAL AND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Q:Can we shoot outdoors?
A:YES, ABSOLUTELY. We start in the studio and then go on location in a bridal shoot. If the outdoor location is 20-25 miles away, normally our total bridal shoot will take place on location.
Q:Do I need to have a bouquet, have my hair and make-up done for my bridal portrait session?
A:Yes, this is an essential part of your bridal portrait. It completes your look. Your make-up should be just a little more that you would normally wear and your hair (which is your option) to be done basically like you will wear it on your wedding day. A lot of brides will also duplicate their bouquet as close as possible for their bridal portrait. It’s very exciting and fun! Your very own special portrait.
Q:What if it rains or we have bad weather on the day of the bridal shoot?
A:Most of the time we begin our bridal session in our big beautiful loft studio and we can do the shoot there or reschedule for another time that is suitable for both parties. However, we request a 24 hour cancellation request if possible.
Q:What time of day is best for an outdoor bridal session?
A:Generally we find that late afternoon works best for an outdoor shoot for the lighting to be at its’ proper proportion, but it does fluctuate from season to season.
Q:How will we view the images?
A:We have two methods for viewing the images – In the studio, at the loft, we have a viewing area with a large flat screen monitor and we also post the images on line at www.DennyShorttPhotography.com with your own unique pass word.
Q:How much time after the wedding can we see the wedding images?
A:Please allow approximately 2 weeks due to post processing, etc.
Q:I think I will get “Uncle Bob” to shoot our wedding……He has a camera.
A:Not a wise choice – This is a special one time event that will be in your journal forever. Anybody can pick up a camera, create a web site, and hang out a shingle, but everyone does not have the eye, the talent, the love and knowledge of photography that a “real” photographer has. He or she will know what images to take, how to create the image he wants, and will have a growing knowledge of lighting and techniques, to make you look better than you ever thought possible.
Q:Do you have a fee for a Wedding Consultation?
A:Absolutely not! Our time with you is valuable to us. It gives us a time to get acquainted with you and to find out what your dreams and thoughts are. We encourage you to bring suggestions and images you like to our meeting.
Q:How many images do you shoot at a wedding?
A:Anywhere from 1,200 – 1,500 images. We make sure we get everything we need for you, your Mom and family as well as guests attending the wedding. We want your Album to be everything you want!
